Introducing The Wellington Pub: A Buffalo Gem
Located at 1541 Hertel Ave, Buffalo, NY, The Wellington Pub is a beloved local eatery that captures the essence of Buffalo's vibrant dining culture. With its inviting atmosphere and bustling energy, it stands out not just as a place to grab a bite but as a community hub where friends and family come together.
The Wellington offers a diverse menu that runs the gamut from hearty sandwiches to mouthwatering burgers. A highlight is their Supreme Steak Sandwich, featuring two tenderloin steaks topped with roasted red peppers, mushrooms, and Provolone cheese—all on a freshly baked hoagie roll. For a twist, the Local Legend draws attention with its unique combination of tenderloin steak and mozzarella cheese stuffed inside a banana pepper, served on a garlic hoagie.
But it’s not just the steaks that shine; the melts and burgers are equally impressive. The B & J Special, with its peameal bacon and melted cheddar on grilled rye, is a must-try. For burger lovers, the Monster Burger is an audacious feat, sandwiched between two grilled cheese sandwiches. Customers rave about the French Onion Soup, with one reviewer noting it as “bussin’” and another emphasizing its spot-on flavor as recommended by the staff.

Whether you're there for a lively Friday night or a quiet date, the restaurant's busy evenings create a wonderful buzz, filled with laughter and joyful chatter.
The drink menu is equally comprehensive, boasting a wide selection of beers on tap and a variety of cocktails suitable for any palate. With ample seating that accommodates families and large groups, The Wellington thrives as a neighborhood gathering spot.
In a city renowned for its wings, The Wellington's offerings do not disappoint. As Deborah Hampton notes, they serve some of Buffalo's best chicken wings, a staple that draws regulars and newcomers alike.

Best wings in Buffalo. Staff is always friendly here and the beer is always cold. Great place to watch a college football game.

Fantastic pub with a nice atmosphere. My husband and I went there last night for a date. I cannot recommend this place enough. When we walked in, we were greeted by a boisterous Friday evening crowd. The first thing I noticed was the well stocked bar. It is a little cramped between the bustling wait staff and the patrons, but it's manageable to navigate. We made our way to the back area to put our name in for a table in the seating area, and then went up to the bar to get ciders while we waited. Their drink menu is fairly comprehensive - a good amount of beers on tap and bottled, wines, cocktails, sodas...you'll definitely find something to drink. While waiting for a table (about 20 minute wait) I saw parents with small children, so it's definitely family friendly. The seating area is fairly large with two distinct sections (a front area and back area). We were seated in the back. There was a large family (15 people or so) that night so I think if you call ahead, they'll have a seat ready for larger groups. Plenty of tvs on with hockey for the sports fans as well! Onto the food. The menu is your standard pub faire- appetizers, soups, salads, sandwiches, wraps, burgers, and fish fries. Sides included potatoes, potato chips, bacon, french fries, etc. You have the ability to order alcoholic or nonalcoholic drinks and dessert as well (we skipped dessert though). My husband ordered the Monster burger (a burger served between two grilled cheese sandwiches) and I got the Beef on Weck. Our appetizer was an order of 10 medium spiced wings. Delicious food. The time between ordering and receiving food was an hour but we did go at the busiest time for food (6:30-8) so we expected a wait. Nonetheless, they didn't charge us for the drink I ordered, which was very nice. Cost: 7 per cider, 19 for the monster, 12 for the Beef on Weck, 15 for the wings. We tipped 25% as well because our server was awesome and attentive even in the craziest time of the night. (Ally? I think?...I'm sorry ma'am, I cannot remember your name but you deserve a raise). It was a lovely date experience and I cannot wait to go back.

Great atmosphere and terrific friendly service. The menu has plenty to choose from and I don't think anything could possibly disappoint. I selected the Cajun 5 Alarm Burger and it was outstanding. Now the Local Legend, as seen in my photo, looks amazing.
